Umuopara Rescue Team Escaped Attack.
In the midst of community conflict, a committee dedicated to ensuring that each of the communities act under the umbrella of law and wages any form of rancor is very essential.
For Umuopara Nsu, as law abiding community, also constituted a Legal committee under the Umuopara Rescue Team.
This committee has been working hands on the clock to maintain peace and order, further ensuring that the innocent elders,
sons and mothers from Umuopara Nsu remanded during the mass arrest after the December 30th community clash between Umuduru and Umuopara should be freed.
On Tuesday, 4th March 2025, the Legal Committee of the Rescue Team escaped an unlawful arrest, which pose as an attack.
During interviewing the chairman of the team (name withheld for security reasons) told Epicmore Tv Channel that three Umuduru youths
were spotted conniving with the unidentified personnels for another unlawful arrest outside the court premises with their vehicle.
As the Umuopara’s legal committee members were driving out, they saw the unlawful arrest plotters
and drove back to the court. While made frantic effort to escape from the scene.
The chairman of the legal committee further expresses that, “this is to let the public know that the matter is at the court,
and arrest of any kind is uncalled for. Signaling that the actor of this illegality should desist from that”.
Epicmore Tv Channel uses the medium to enlighten the public on aspects of the constitution, which prohibits unlawful arrest.
It states that an arrest of the wrong person, known as arrest in lieu, contradicts section 7 of the ACJA, which prohibits such arrest. An arrest based on malice or personal gain is unlawful.
